ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE ROTARY CLUB OF SIDNEY
2026 – Please print or store on your phone for your reference.
First and foremost: on behalf of Sidney Rotary – Thank you for Volunteering. We appreciate your help. Please remember we are fund raising for community programs that Sidney Rotary supports.
Arrival: Saanich Fall Fair grounds main gate @ 1528 Stellys Cross Road, Saanichton (Sidney Rotary site is between horse ring and beef/sheep barns @ back of fairground)
Fairground parking access: For the afternoon shifts in particular, the east access to the fair (Wallace Drive, East Saanich Rd,
Pat Bay Highway to Stelly’s X Rd) is always very busy and can take longer than expected due to traffic congestion . We have found over the years that accessing fair parking from West Saanich Rd i.e. from the west side of Stelly’s X Rd. takes less time. To make the afternoon shift in time, volunteers should allow more time because of the traffic congestion and crowds just to get to the main gate. For those with disabled parking passes access it
through the middle entrance to the fair taking into account the time of day as to which direction to access it by. You must have the pass visible in your windshield and the parking attendant will direct you to the lots.
Fairground Main gate (middle of fairground) access:
When volunteers are in the fairgrounds parking lot, one of us will either be parked in the handicap parking lot (near the main gate) or close to it, carrying an open umbrella and will meet you with a wristband to give you access to the fair. Please arrive ideally 30 minutes prior to your shift to orient yourself to the game which are at the back of the fairgrounds by the “sheep/ cow barn field (go to the left (west) once through the main gate and circle to the left (west) back side of the Fair’s main exhibition building) . NB. Gate access for morning shifts prior to 9am usually do not require wristbands if you tell the gate keeper that you are volunteering with Sidney Rotary. For bingo/wheel – arrive for 12:30, other games 1:30pm
Please immediately drop off your wristband at the Rotary Bank (small yellow Seacan container at the back of Rotary games site.(see below)
Shifts times:
i.e. hours games are open for business. 10am – 2pm, and 2:00 – 6:00 pm for Sat/Sun, Mon – is till 5pm at which time we breakdown and pack up .
Morning shifts – Please plan to arrive 30 mins. prior to the morning opening, i.e.-9:30 am to set up the game booth i.e.- Hang prizes, place trays on tables, orient to game rules and get cash float from Rotary Bank (Seacan by rest station) All the games are covered by tents, but depending on the time of day may have sun exposure. Please wear sunscreen and have a hat. An explanation of the game rules will be in the prize box as well as a copy of the issued prizes for each game/day.
Afternoon Shift – End of the day tasks (@6pm): Please count all remaining prizes and list the numbers on the provided inventory sheet . Take the prize box, game equipment to the large container and the blue cash purse and prize inventory sheet to the small container (both behind the Rotary game area on the north fence)
GAME Cash FLOATS & Game Tickets: aka Blue cash purse
Beginning of day cash floats are in the blue purses.
Please always place large ($20,$50 ) bills or large numbers of bills into the cash purse (not in your apron), Please do not fold bills, store blue purse in a safe spot i.e.- Prize box with your personal belongings. Throughout the day these will be exchanged for new ones and counted for the bank deposit that night.
Tickets: We will be selling tickets for all the games (except Crown and Anchor -cash only) in multiples of 1 ticket for $4 near the Bingo tent (n.b. different coloured single admit one tickets everyday, stamped with either a date or return H” on diagonal) They should be treated as admission for 1 game and placed in your cash purse. Please open new prize bags from end so they can be reused the next day.
Volunteer Tent (rest area)
A volunteer tent has been set-up between the two Seacan containers mentioned above at the north fence. Coffee, water, pop, apples will be available there or will be brought to you on request as time allows.
Remember- Have fun, don’t hesitate to act like a carni and sell your game! We are fun raising for community projects.

Lucky Duck
PLAYING RULES 2026
- Players are sold a chance to pick out one random floating duck for $4.00 Tickets can be purchased at the bingo tent for 2 tickets for $8 for those without cash
- The duck once chosen by the player is inverted to see the size of prize the player will receive .
- Prizes range in size small, medium, large highest chance is for small
- There are no exchanges or purchasing of prizes by staff or players. The club rely on all proceeds for projects throughout the community.
- Thank the participant for supporting Rotary
- GAME FLOATS: aka Blue cash purse Beginning of day cash floats are in the blue purses.Please always place large ($20,$50 ) bills or large numbers of bills into the cash purse (not in your apron), Please do not fold bills and store blue purse in a safe spot (e.g. Prize box) with your personal belongings. Drinks: Coffee, pop, water(available in cooler) at the tent between the two containers behind the games tents (back(north) fence between the 2 yellow containers.
End of day:
Please count and record all remaining prizes on the prize inventory page (turn over). Replace them in the prize boxes and take to large yellow container with equipment box

FISH TANK
PLAYING Rules 2026
- 1.Fishing rods are $4. – Tickets can be purchased at or near the bingo tent for 2 tickets for $8 for those without cash
- Every player catching a fish is allowed to select ONE PRIZE from the tray
DOUBLE CATCHES only get one prize.
- No player’s arms are allowed in the water.
- Have fun with the players, they are mostly young children.
- After each fish is caught, return it to the tank, Drop from water into area where minimal fish are or use the rod to place back to bottom of tank. (Otherwise fish go on side and are not catchable)
- From time to time you will have to ensure the fish are spread around the bottom of each tank.

Cork GUN
PLAYING RULES 2026
- Admission cost: 4 corks for $4. Tickets can be purchased at or near the bingo tent for 2 tickets for $8 for those without cash
- Two people must man the game.
- All players must play from outside the booth. Do NOT allow anyone including small children, from getting up on the front counter or to enter the booth to shoot from inside the booth. Small children may stand on the step box..
- Only sell each player ONE SET OF CORKS(4) at a time —otherwise they may try to “combine“ them incorrectly to win a prize.
- When busy, don’t let one player continue indefinitely, limit players to 2 or 3 turns asking them politely to allow other players the opportunity to “try their luck”
- PRIZES. Two balls out of three-wins Small Prize Three balls out of three- wins Large prize NO TRADES once a prize has been selected. The club rely on all proceeds for projects throughout the community.

Funball
PLAYING RULES 2026
- This game is an underhand pitch of a softball into a coloured muffin tin playboard.
- Each player pays $4 per 2 balls. Tickets can be purchased at or near the bingo tent for 2 tickets for $8 for those without cash
- Players to remain at the front of the game no leaning is permitted over the game.
- Each softball is thrown and the colour of the receiver determines the size of the prize—- 4 categories – Small, medium, large and x Large
- No prize exchanging or trading. The club rely on all proceeds for projects throughout the community.
- Thank the player or parent for supporting Rotary.
- GAME FLOATS: aka Blue cash purse
Beginning of day cash floats are in the blue purses. Pin Ball
PLAYING RULES 2026
- Each player purchases a golf ball for $4. Tickets can be purchased at or near the bingo tent for 2 tickets for $8 for those without cash
- Players to remain at the front of the game, ball is released at the top of the board and reaches receiver at bottom.
- Colour of receiver determines the prize—- 3 categories – Small, medium, large
- No prize exchanging or trading. The club rely on all proceeds for projects throughout the community.

COKE RING TOSS
PLAYING RULES 2026
1. Two persons are required to man the game.
2. Each player gets 5 rings for 2$ or 15 for 5$ Tickets can be purchased at or near the bingo tent for 2 tickets for $8 for those without cash
- Player receives prizes for rings landing cleanly around the neck of a bottle.
- NO TRADES once a prize has been selected
PRIZES.
- 1 Ring over bottle –wins Small Prize
- Ring over Black Bottle—wins Medium prize
- Ring over Orange Bottle- wins Large Prize
Drinks: Coffee, pop, water(available in cooler) at the tent between the two yellow containers behind the game tents (back (north) fence
